Kenneth Castle began his career as a Balancing Service Engineer for the Gisholt Machine Company in 1958. At the time, most manufacturers purchased their own balancing equipment. The Balancing Service Engineer would then go to each customer, setup the balancing equipment, train the operator and design tooling for that specific job.
Logic and problem solving are paramount to a skilled service tech, so naturally Ken began to wonder whether there was a more efficient and cost effective solution for his customers. The solution was clear, outsourcing balancing services. He put his plan in motion and set up Industrial Balancing Service Inc. in 1962. We’re pretty sure Ken pioneered this concept. His customers really appreciated the fact they no longer had to make a capitol investment in specialized balancing equipment.
Now, the creative problem solving didn’t stop there. In the mid 80’s IBS decided to add a machining division to provide added value to their customers. Once again customers liked the concept. They would no longer need to deal with multiple vendors, transportation costs and logistical issues. Adding machining services meant IBS clients would have a turnkey solution. Industrial Balancing soon became a one stop shop.
Today Industrial Balancing Services is the largest company of its kind in the Midwest. In fact, there are only 4 or 5 similar companies that exist in the United States.
Although Ken has retired from the day to day operation his son, Scott who has been with the company since 1984, maintains the same principles his father held to build Industrial Balancing Services. Creative problem solving, innovative solutions, superior quality and good old Midwest work ethics all work together to provide their customers outstanding services at economical prices.
